Developing my craft

Audio-Visual Technician

It all started at AV Services (Glasgow) in 1989. I was employed by a very successful and busy audio-visual hire, sales and servicing company. I gained equipment knowledge, show experience and installation skills while working in the major technical disciplines - audio-visual, vision, sound and lighting.

Warehouse Technician

In 1996, I moved south to PSL (London). Working in-house on the preparation side of the rental company, and as part of a team, testing the range of specialist equipment before despatch, meant I could increase my equipment knowledge and operational skills.

Technical Operations Manager

I accepted a new challenge from Apex.co.uk (Macclesfield) in April 1997 to become their Technical Operations Manager. I improved operating techniques within the technical side of the company, including redesigning the warehouse layout and implementing HireTrack (rental management software). Responsibilities also included production management and maintaining the fleet of technical equipment.

Moving forward and going freelance

With all that experience under my belt, I decided to go freelance in October 1997, initially working with specialist equipment rental companies and venues.

Then I broadened my client base to encompass agencies, consultancies, production companies and freelance production personnel. Working with their clients' means I deliver services for top blue-chip companies - BP, CIPR, Eversheds, HSBC, Johnson & Johnson, Nokia, TNT, Vodafone to name but a few.

Now established with a substantial client base, I am proud of my reputation, which earns repeat business and referrals from fellow colleagues and clients.

My work often brings me into contact with highly sensitive and privileged information. You can rely on me to deal with your events, and any information you give me, in the strictest confidence.
